Each camp week will have a different focus:

June 29-July 3: “Improving and Understanding the Technique of Using the Body to Protect the Ball”

The principle aim of this week will be to ensure players understand that when pressure is applied from an opponent, great players are able to shield the ball if necessary before making an optimal decision on what to do next.  South American players are renowned for their ability in this aspect of the game: they are very comfortable under pressure, even if it means the opponent is significantly bigger than them! Learning objectives for the week will be:

·  Improve technique of using the body to protect (shield) the ball from an opponent.
·  Improve techniques to change direction.
·  Improve techniques of lateral dribbling and the use of a change of direction to create space from a defender applying pressure.
·  Improve decision making after releasing the ball from a shielding position.
·  Ensure players develop an appreciation of how important shielding is!

July 6-10: “Effective Passing and Receiving”

The HPFC Development Academy is all about achieving excellence in the core fundamentals of the game, enabling every player to maximize their development potential. Passing and receiving are two such fundamentals. Great players pass and receive the ball correctly and consistently with both feet. Learning objectives for the week will be:

·  Ensure correct body mechanics with the inside of the foot pass.
·  Ensure players appreciate the importance of passing with “pace”.
·  Improve different techniques of receiving the ball: (i) away from body (ii) across body (iii) with disguise.
·  Improve and understand techniques of receiving the ball in different areas of the field.

June 13-17: “Ball Mastery, 1V1 attacking”

This week will target the creative side in all players aim for them to develop a positive attacking attitude in 1v1 situations. Players will be taught a variety of footwork routines progressing from simple to more complex and they will be encouraged to use these routines as a platform for more self discovery and self practice, increasing their comfort and confidence with the ball.

Players will also experience a variety of fun  and challenging speed, quickness and core strength exercises that will improve their physical conditioning and capacity to express themselves on the field. Learning objectives will be:

·  Increase player footwork speed, to improve capacity to change direction and manipulate the ball in tight areas of the field.
·  Enhance technical proficiency of players by improving speed, agility and core strength.
·  Ensure player understand the importance of physical conditioning and how it relates to soccer performance.
·  Develop an attacking 1v1 mentality in players.
