HPFC Girls '98 Blue

Welcome to the Official Girls '98 Homepage!

HPFC Girls '98/Development is directed at developing the technical ability of HPFC's youngest players.  We train year round in an academy setting with emphasis on improving and expanding all areas of technical skill.  Players will also learn foundational tactical concepts.  The goal of the '98/Development Team is to prepare every player to play at the PDL level in the following year.  Part of this process will be to learn good training habits, good nutrition, how to be competitive and how to be good teammates.

HPFC Girls '98/Development will compete at the U-11 age group both in spring and summer tournaments and next fall in league play.

Every day you touch a ball...smile, have fun and learn something new!

Young Player Do's (#1)

The most important thing a young player can do...aside from touch the ball everyday...is to watch soccer at the highest levels as often as possible.  While soccer is not huge in the U.S. there is still a lot of high quality soccer on television and with the start of the 2008 campaign for the USL powerhouse Sounders we don't have to wait until next summer to see the MLS stars of tomorrow in our home town.  For now, check out the tv listings below for where you can catch some of the best players in the world live, in action.  Also, check the link below and follow the Sounders and Sounders Women this summer.  And then, the next time you're on the pitch, give it a go and try something new and cool you saw the pros do!

Young Player Do's #2

One of the best ways to improve as a young player is to work on your "touch" on the ball.  To improve you have to touch the ball more than just two times a week at practice.   Just like your teacher wants you to read 10-15 minutes a day, coaches love players who spend at least 10-15 minutes touching the ball every day. Tiny touches (ball taps and the like) and juggling force you to work on footwork, body shape, balance, and improve your feel on the ball.  Remember to use all the surfaces of both feet and test yourself by timing short intervals (30 or 45 secs) and counting your reps in that time.  Better technical abilities allow you to put tactical knowledge to use in games because you will be able to do what you want with the ball when you want to do it!
